Training Format and Expectations

This is a 13-month program that meets 1 weekend per month. In addition, you will enhance your study by participating in the following supplemental assignments:

  • Attend two series classes during the program year
  • Assist eight classes with a lead teacher.
  • Participate in practice teaching sessions and reading and writing labs
  • Attend a day-long retreat focused on integration and community building

Trainees will also complete an Individualized Mentored Project, which includes designing curriculum for a 4-week class series, teaching the lesson plan and submitting a reflective summary.

Graduation requirements include full participation in all aspects of the program, adherence to deadlines and ethical conduct, and successful completion of the final project and all assignments. Trainees will be evaluated throughout the program and receive ongoing mentorship and feedback from the lead trainers.

You will receive approximately 270 contact hours during these weekend intensives and additional practice in the studio. This program is experiential and highly teacher-focused. It includes ample practice-teaching time in small groups to cement the approaches and skills covered in the program.

When choosing a 300-Hour program for yourself, consider the advantages of a long-term commitment like this. It gives you the opportunity to practice and teach what you are learning, to internalize and polish your skills over time, while remaining an engaged member of a vibrant community of your peers. Students in this program remark on the benefits of being part of an ongoing, sharing group of talented teachers.
